This shows how the logo was made for our film production company: Swarve Pig Productions. It was created using photoshop and the screen grabs and captions explain how and what was done. This was done so that we could prove that it is a copyright free image and also it shows are computer ability.

Script: The Chase

John Goodman: That…that man, with the…moustache!

                               Nooooooooooo!

Flashback

John Goodman: (voice over) where is that bastard!

(John shoots close to Philip)

Philip Coke: You can’t touch me you little feckin’ arse!

John Goodman: (voice over) like a coward he ran.

(Philip runs away)

(John chases)

Philip Coke: You’ll never take me alive!

John Goodman: Who said I wanted you alive!

Back to present

John Goodman: Nurse, I can’t remember anything

Nurse: You suffered massive head trauma you may have trouble remembering things, John

John Goodman: I, I remember?

Flashback

John Goodman: Its over!

Philip Coke: That’s what you think you arse!!

John Goodman: Why don’t you say that again!

Philip Coke: No you wouldn’t?

(John then shoots Philip in both his hands)

Philip: Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

             (As he falls) I’ll get you!

Nurse: How are you feeling Mr Goodman?

John Goodman: What you’re a nurse?

Nurse: You may have trouble remembering things John, don’t worry I’m here to help!

John Goodman: That man I killed him but, why?

Nurse: Who did you kill John?

John: No your dead aren’t you?

           Nooooooo!

This is our original script for our opening sequence it shows a breakdown of the dialogue which will be used, this was done as our opening sequence is fairly dependent on dialogue to explain the narrative and remembering it all could prove difficult.

This institution research shows which genres are most profitable at the box-office and any trends. It also show how our genre performs at the box-office and some films which have been successful and which age groups  and genres in particular have enjoyed it.  

Pitch

Our film shall be called The Chase. John Goodman a middle aged cop who has been trying to stop a well known drug baron for his whole career, however he has been unable to arrest his as his superiors would not allow him for unknown reasons. He has a decades worth of evidence he unable to use until to put Philip Coke behind bars for years, then his superior Commissioner Jones is found dead and has apparently committed suicide. Now John is in charge and intends to brig Philip Coke into custody. John alone goes to Philip’s last know location of residents, Philip flees and John must chase him through the grounds of his tropical beach resort. Philip is caught by John and all seems good until Philip release a small cementation of Carbon Ragrea gas which allows him to escape and leaves John seriously disfigured. John then wakes up five years later in hospital where he is advised by his doctor to not look into a mirror as it would cause too much psychological damage; he is also informed that whilst in his coma his wife and seven children have in killed due to unknown circumstances. Furious and vengeful John escapes from hospital and hunts down the man who ruined his life by any means necessary, whilst trying to avoid the law himself.

The opening sequence shall begin in John’s home panning through several rooms in his house before leaving and fast forwarding to Philip Coke’s resort. John scales the high security wall, Philip then sees the cop who he knows has been after him for years and attempts to flee, a tracking shot follows John as he runs after the suspect and eventually catches him after talking him to the floor. At this point Philip blinds John with a deadly gas and escapes via a helicopter.  

Several Film Noir conventions will be present t including the lead character John Goodman who is not only a hard-boiled detective but also provides narration and voice over’s for much of the film. There will also be several flashbacks in which John remembers happier times with his family. As John must remain incognito to escape from the law hunting him down he put do much of his chasing a night time to avoid detection, so many low key lighting effects and shadows will be used.

An thrilling chase across the country with little time and no hope, one man seeks revenge on the man who ruined his face and his life!


This pitch was done to give an overview of our ideas for our opening sequence giving a brief description of the narrative of the overall film and a breakdown of what will happen during the opening sequence which we are going to film. We also gave a description of what film noir conventions will be included, this is what will get us marks and a summary in around twenty five words.

Doing this time line allowed us to analyse the opening of a film noir allowing us to see the amount of time specific credits are on screen for and the sounds which accompany them.

Doing this nine frame analysis allowed us to understand some of the conventions used during a film noir opening sequence including the font types and camera movements. This also influenced us on what sorts of credits are appropriate and the timings of the title as well as there order.

This research was done to show us which films of our genre were most profitable at the box-office this allows us to see which films have done well and which have flopped. This information allows us to influence our opening sequence so that we are also able to make a profitable film.
